Irrigation canals have been cleaned in Lagodekhi municipality
“Georgian Amelioration” ltd is actively carrying out works for the repair-arrangement of amelioration infrastructure to ensure proper operation of irrigation schemes and agricultural development in regions. Currently, the company has completed cleaning works of the headworks of Kabali and Baisubani irrigation schemes, in Lagodekhi municipality. The canals have been cleaned from sediment, soil and various waste, significantly hindering discharge capacity.
As a result of the works performed, the irrigation scheme will operate more properly during the season and water supply quality will improve on up to 150 ha of agricultural land area, which will ensure the increase in land fertility and simplify the local farmers’ labor.
As a results of the amelioration infrastructural projects implemented in Kakheti region within 2012-2024, total of 20 140 hectares of agricultural land area have been water supplied, irrigation water supply has improved on 16 285 ha, while drainage covered 8 725 ha.
