The drainage channel has been cleaned in the village Vakiri, in Sighnaghi Municipality.
"Georgian Amelioration" LTD of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has completed the cleaning works of a drainage canal in the village Vakiri of Sighnaghi Municipality. A 1000 meter stretch of the drainage canal has been cleaned from sediment. After the completion of the works, 20 hectares of land area were freed up from groundwater, and the water supply was significantly improved to 45 hectares of ponds.
These measures will promote the efficient use of land resources and the development of agriculture. As a result of amelioration infrastructural projects, implemented in Kakheti region in 2012-2024, 20 140 hectares of agricultural land area have been water provided, irrigation water supply has been improved to 16 285 hectares, and the drained land area is 8 725 hectares.
