A working meeting was held on amelioration infrastructural issues of the Imereti region
The General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” LTD Gigla Tamazashvili, held a working meeting with the State representative of Imereti region Levan Zalkaliani, and the mayors of the municipalities. At the meeting they discussed the implemented and ongoing amelioration infrastructural projects in the Imereti region. Gigla Tamazashvili spoke about the importance of active involvement of local government in the planning process of amelioration works. The meeting was focused to the need of rehabilitation of the Mashveli channel in Kutaisi. As Gigla Tamazashvili mentioned, design works will be planned at the initial stage, and then the rehabilitation of the canal will begin.
The meeting was held at the Imereti Regional Administration, which was attended by the head persons of "Georgian Amelioration" and the mayors of the region municipalities.
It should be noted that, as a result of amelioration infrastructural projects, implemented in Imereti in 2012-2024, 12075 hectares of agricultural land area were water provided, irrigation water supply was improved to 15270 hectares, and the drained land area became 3385 hectares.
