Irrigation water supply will improve on 7500 ha of agricultural land area in Kvemo Kartli

“Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is carrying out works in the city of Rustavi,  for the improvement of water supply in Kvemo Kartli. The project envisages cleaning of the left embankment of the Kura (Mtkvari) River from sediment and silt. The works carried out will ensure an unhindered supply of water to the irrigation scheme. As a result, irrigation water supply will improve on 7500 ha of agricultural land area of the town of Gardabani and the villages: Tazakendi, Birliki, Kalinino, Botanika, Kapanakhchi, Lelashkha, Tbiltskaro, Kesalo, Nazarlo, Vakhtangisi and Jandara, that will significantly facilitate to the increase of agricultural production. “Georgian Amelioration” ltd will complete the works ongoing within the operation program  by late October.

As a result of the amelioration infrastructural projects implemented in Kvemo Kartli region within the years of 2012-2024, additionally more than 34 094 hectares of agricultural land area  have been water supplied, while irrigation water supply has improved on 32 067 hectares.
