Irrigation water supply will improve on up to 1,200 ha of agricultural land area in Kakheti
“Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is implementing large-scale irrigation and drainage infrastructural projects all over the country.
Cleaning works are underway on Zemo Alazani irrigation scheme on the territory of the village Vardisubani, Telavi Municipality. A 2.7 km long section of the main canal is being cleaned from sedimentary soil and vegetation. The works carried out will increase discharge capacity of the canal that will facilitate to unhindered flow of water.
As a result, irrigation water supply will improve on up to 1,200 ha of agricultural land area.
Georgian Amelioration schedules to complete the cleaning works of the irrigation canal by the end of May.
It’d be noted that as a result of the ameliorative infrastructural projects implemented within the years 2012-2024 in Kakheti region, additional 20,140 ha of agricultural land area was water supplied, while irrigation water supply was improved on 16,285 hectares.
